This project displays a surreal graphic interpretation of urban nature reserves being rewilded. It shows a future in which various animals, birds and habitats are restored through rewilding techniques in a natural reserve. The project is unique in that it employs surreal visual depictions of rewilding procedures alongside animals or birds to create ambiguity and a sense of reintroduction. The project is being carried out at
Tolworth, UK, at Tolworth Court Farm Fields, an urban nature reserve. My idea is a modern interpretation of the Wild Tolworth rewilding initiative being pursued by the Citizen Zoo Conservation Organization. I’m pursuing this initiative to raise awareness and advance the idea of urban rehabilitation. An animal or bird that has been declining for decades can be returned back to its proper spot and dwell in its true habitat. This
motivates me to pursue this project. The abundance of habitats creates a natural mosaic, which needs to be preserved. The apparition look gives a sense of spiritual presence, as if the animals or birds belong in that natural setting. The work is an amalgamation of many photographs and AI generative images which are put together in post post-production to portray a sense of hope that nature can reclaim its rightful place amidst the
concrete structures. A unique view of nature, or views of unexpected subjects or situations, is attempted, along with an attempt to provoke emotional responses from the viewers.
